Veronica Lake, (November 14, 1922 until her untimely death in June of 1973) Veronica Lake was born in Brooklyn, NY but moved to Beverly Hills in 1938. Lake was known for having her hair covering her right eye which created an air of mystery about her. She eventually signed to a long-term contract with Paramount. Lake was often paired with Alan Ladd and appeared in at least 30 films during the late thirties until 1970. During World War II, Lake changed her trademark peek-a-boo hairstyle at the urging of the government to encourage women working in war industry factories to adopt more practical, safer hairstyles. She also became a popular pin-up girl for soldiers during World War II and traveled throughout the United States to raise money for war bonds Veronica Lake was important to the golden age of Hollywood.
